I have worked at a desk most of my life. As you can imagine, my family’s life was extremely busy with my husband and I working full-time, the kids’ in school, and their sporting and extra curricular activities. Feeling stretched too thin much of the time, I reached the point where it was time for a change. I wanted to be able to do more of what I loved; I wanted more time with my family, I wanted to learn more about art and nature and to have more time to develop and share my glass art. So we took a leap of faith and I left my employer of 10 years.
When my aunt first introduced me to this glass on glass mosaic technique I fell in love, finally a craft I don’t get bored with after the first finished piece. I feel one of the most wonderful things about this art is how nature contributes to it’s beauty. When the sunlight shines directly through, the piece is transformed to another level that at times takes my breath away. Another special quality of this art is how the color is displayed around the room based on the angle of the sun coming through the window. As an example, I created a very large sunrise across two window panels that are hung in my Great Room. These windows face east and currently between 8:00 and 11:00am the sunlight makes these pieces look like they are on fire and the vibrant red, yellow and orange colored light travels around the room as the sun moves in the sky. It just makes my heart SING! (I’ve included pictures of these panels if you would like to view them, please visit the DESIGNS tab.)
Well, as you can probably tell, I am thoroughly enjoying my new life. I am blessed that God has given me the ability to appreciate and create such beauty. I am thankful for my family’s endless support and enthusiasm. And I thank you for your interest and time.
I would like to hear from you, so please send your comments from my Email page.
Take Care and Blessings,
Pam Ruhlman
